I See You There–Motherhood

Hey there busy momma. Today this post is for you. I see you there working your butt off juggling the laundry, the kids, the meals, your job and anything else you put there on your plate. I see you and I know what you are feeling because I feel it too. The stress builds some days until you feel like you just can’t take one more minute in this amazing life you keep telling yourself you are living. You haven’t showered in at least a day but possibly longer, you are stressing over a bill that needs to get paid and you feel like not even your other half truly gets it! Then there is a toddler who wants a tea party and a baby with a dirty diaper. If these are the days moms dream of then someone else can live this dream. At least that is what you are thinking right?

I See You There Motherhood

I have these days from time to time. I catch myself thinking about what I can do to change the situation I’m in like it is some horrible punishment. I have to pull back and clear my head. A Starbucks and a little bit of music usually do the trick but since my kids don’t sit still this is better done in the car where they are strapped into their seats.

A few years ago when my two older boys were younger I complained a lot until my mom reminded me that all moms are doing the same thing. All moms are trying to find balance in whatever situation they are in and whatever stage they are going through in motherhood. She reminded me how her and my dad worked 3rd shift and often ran on little sleep trying to then drag themselves to our school activities or chaperone a field trip. Ever since that day I have thought a lot about what she said. All moms are doing the same thing just in different ways. Some of us have more help than others, more complicated situations than others but in the end we are all trying to be the best moms we can.

Never forget to enjoy the moments with your babies and to just be their mom. I used to think I needed to make things big and extravagant but have come to realize that all my kids want is attention. They want to have all of my attention to play with them, snuggle with them and to spend 100% focused on them. They don’t need expensive toys, over the top birthday parties and amazing weekend trips. I am the first to admit that this is hard to do with technology and the nature of my job but taking the time to just BE IN THE MOMENT with your kids is a must.

When you are feeling overwhelmed with everything else just stop. Breathe in the happiness your kids have and remember that all moms are doing what you are doing. All moms are at some point worried about what they will make for dinner, when they will find a few extra minutes to stop into the store because they are out of toilet paper (true story) or restart the dryer to fluff a load for the umpteenth time.

Hey momma bring that smile back! Life can throw curve balls and seem like it isn’t all it is cracked up to be but we truly are living one amazing life. Kiss your babes, take a shower, put on your reddest red lipstick and take the reigns back.
