Get the Lawn Ready for BBQ Season

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Scotts Turf Builder for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Last weekend my husband and I spent an afternoon cleaning up our yard. We swept the back patio, cleaned off the outside table and chairs, got the grill area organized, cut the lawn and then spread out weed killer. Portions of our lawn have been completely taken over by weeds and they grow 10x faster than the actual grass which means more mowing for Mike. Since most Floridians have BBQs in the Spring rather than the blazing hot summer we want our yard to be ready! My husband pulled out the fertilizer spreader and we put Scotts Turf Builder down.

Bonus S is an existing lawncare product designed specifically for southern grass and weeds. This is a new, more effective formula being rolled out in Florida that’s guaranteed to clear out listed weeds including dollarweed and clover. As you can see our yard fits the bill!

If you live in the Jacksonville, Florida area stop into one of these locations to get tips from lawn experts. Scotts will have Scotts Backyard Pros on-site to answer Bonus S questions as well as providing tips to all other lawn and garden questions.

I know we are hoping that after the Bonus S works its magic we will have a nicer lawn to enjoy our favorite BBQ activities (umm did someone say cornhole!?), let the kids play and sit out by our fire pit!

We put the turf builder down last weekend and then we had quite a few overcast days but no rain so I sprayed the lawn down with our sprinklers. As of a few days ago I started noticing a difference – the weeds were black and withered or turning yellow and dying. Yesterday I noticed even more progress than the day before. Now our dilemma is that it is going to leave us with no lawn in some spots that were completely overtaken by weeds. It looks like I will be putting down grass seed next! (but hey I’m not complaining!!)
