Easy Homemade Hot Wing Sauce

It is nearing the end of football season and less than a month till the big game so I wanted to share a recipe perfect for game day – an easy homemade hot wing sauce. My dad made this wing sauce growing up and I was always excited to have his hot wings for dinner. As I got older he would let me be in charge of the sauce while he fried the wings. Whenever we have hot wings in our house we usually have a few different types of sauce on hand but this one is always my favorite! Easy Homemade Wing Sauce from poofycheeks.com If you need a unique gift or hostess idea you could always whip up a batch, put it in a jar and give it away. I know I would be excited to receive a homemade wing sauce, jelly, jam or well anything I didn’t have to make myself! Easy Homemade Wing Sauce from poofycheeks.com Ingredients:

  • (1) 12 ounce bottle of Heinz Chile Sauce
  • 12 ounce of water
  • 1 tbl of Chile Powder
  • ½ tsp of Cumin
  • 2 tbl of Brown Sugar
  • ½ tsp of Lemon Juice
  • 1 tbl of Vinegar
  • Cayenne to taste
  • Tobasco to taste
  • 1-3 jalepenos – seeds removed and very finely diced (depending on how hot you want the sauce to be)

Directions:

  • Pour the chile sauce into a medium saucepan on medium/low heat. Then completely refill the empty chile sauce bottle with water, put the cap on and shake to get the remaining sauce from the bottle. Pour the 12 ounces of water into the saucepan.
  • Add all of the other ingredients and bring to a boil. After it starts to boil immediately turn the burner to low and simmer for 20-30 minutes. Taste the sauce and adjust as needed with cayenne or brown sugar.
  • Grill or deep fry chicken wings and pour the sauce over top!

NOTE: My husband doesn’t like things too spicy so we usually only use one big jalapeno in our sauce. If you like things spicy add 2-3 jalapenos. Be sure to wash hands well after handling jalapenos or bad things could happen next time you decided to rub your eye, scratch your face or touch your innocent little baby. My dad usually puts his wings in a crock pot on warm and pours the sauce over top while my mom finishes up french fries! I on the other hand just shake them in a bowl and serve immediately! Sounds so good to me! I can totally understand how flavourful this sauce would be. Daddy's the best!
