Taking a Spring Break

Things have been a bit quiet around the blog the past week or so. They are going to remain quiet because I decided to take the next week completely off from blogging and spend quality time with my kiddos as well as get some other big projects done. I have been going a million miles a minute the past few weeks and I just need.a.break. On top of that I seriously found 5 gray hairs last week my kids deserve a stress free momma every now and then. My shop has been bringing in a steady stream of sales, I have been getting email after email from people wanting logo, shop or business card designs, I sold on Very Jane last week (210 onesies sold out on the first day) and I am also gearing up for Snap and The Queen Bee Market which are now less than 30 days away. I need help – serious help – I need a crash course in ‘how to say no’!

I am going back to the blog conference Snap next month and I will also be selling at The Queen Bee Market while I am there. I am super excited because selling at The Queen Bee Market has been one of my personal goals since I was able to attend it last year. If you follow me on Instagram then you know I have been busy working out the details of my booth setup. I have spent countless hours brainstorming all of the details and how to get everything from Florida to Utah so I can still have an awesome booth, but thankfully that part is almost done. Now I just need to focus on making a lot more hair ties, headbands and some new secret products that I will be debuting soon.

I mentioned that I have been doing some designing lately – I figured I would share the wonderful gals I have been working with and some of the designs I have done for them. They have all been so patient with me and I am grateful for that. It seems over the past few weeks on top of everything else I just can’t catch a break health wise. We all passed around the flu, my husband had important doctor appointments out of town, I slipped on stairs at the beach last week and hurt my back and now Delilah is teething which has turned her into a fussy nightmare. You would probably laugh hysterically if you came to my house --- me designing logos on the computer sitting straight up because my back is killing me while trying to console a crying baby and my boys sneaking into the pantry for countless fruit snacks without me knowing until I found the wrappers sticking out from under the couch. Oye! Sometimes I think the events in my home would make for a very entertaining reality TV show.

Here are some of the designs I have been working on – check these creative ladies out because you are bound to find something awesome!!

Happy Spring Break and Easter to everyone!

Girls Night In Nail Party

On Friday I headed to my mom’s house for a girls night IN. Budgets are tight, babysitters are scarce but moms still need a break! My mom, mother-in-law, sister-in-law and myself all met up to have a drink, watch a movie and paint our nails together! What I learned is that a girls night doesn’t have to cost a whole bunch of money to be a whole bunch of fun! I also learned that I found my new best friend when it comes to painting my nails!

My sister-in-law and I stopped into Walgreens on the way to my mom’s house and picked up a few magazines, some Sally Hansen nail products, snacks, magazines and a movie. Even in Walgreens it seems like everything is centered around spring fashion trends right now – from bright colors to fun prints I just can’t get enough of it! We picked up a nail pen, crackle overcoat and a bunch of fun Spring colors! Lucky for us Walgreens currently has a sale on the Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail strips too so I decided to us my Walgreens Reward Card to get a couple of boxes at the sale price!

Girls Night IN #ILuvNailArt

I have wanted to try the nail strips before but thought they would be too difficult to apply. I was so wrong – I have fallen madly in love with them! You just use nail polish remover to clean off your nails, apply the strip, use a file to remove the excess and shape them exactly to your nail and then your done! No waiting for polish to dry and best of all no smudges! I am so impatient that I almost always smudge my polish every time I paint them.

Run – don’t walk to Walgreens because right now they are having a BOGO 50% on Insta Dri and Salon Effects at Walgreens through 3/30/13 and right now you can get a coupon on the Walgreens App! You know I love a coupon!

You can always shop Walgreens online too -

Our Morning Routine

My least favorite time of the day is the morning. It isn’t because I don’t want to get out of bed as much as it is because my children don’t want to get out of bed. I have tried sending them to bed earlier at night but it doesn’t seem to help. No matter what I try it is always hard to get them up in the mornings. Once they ARE up they drag their feet to get dressed, to brush their teeth and to eat their breakfast. I feel like I am chasing both of my boys around, stopping fights that ensue over one looking at the other (literally) and all of that while trying to get the baby and myself ready too. What are we going to do next year when they have to be up even earlier!?

With everything that has to be done to get the kids and I ready to take Wyatt to school and be there ON TIME the last thing I want to do is worry about breakfast. I don’t have enough hands to prepare a breakfast myself, so I try to keep a variety of options for the boys but I also don’t want them amped up on sugary cereals first thing either. One great option we were introduced to are the new Aunt Jemima Lil’ Griddles. The boys love anything that seems to be ‘their’ size so these bite-sized pancakes are a fun food for them. What they don’t know is that I am happy to serve them! Since breakfast is the most important meal of the day and every batch is made from scratch with real ingredients I don’t feel guilty serving them either. I also don’t mind the 30 second cook time!

Take this morning for instance – the baby was up first so I fed and changed her before it was time to wake the boys up. Once it WAS time to wake the boys up I had to go in multiple times. I use my happy mommy voice while I shake them, take the blankets off, and after I try that a few times and it doesn’t work I get aggravated. Then I start in with the more serious voice telling them to get out of bed before we are late. I’m not sure if it is because we spent a few hours at the beach yesterday or what but today was even harder to get Wyatt out of bed than normal. I have been known to carry their sleep butts to the table and set them in their chairs – they weren’t happy about it but it worked.

While I try to get them up out of bed I give them a few choices for breakfast. By letting them choose I found there is one less breakdown in the morning. Nobody cries because they don’t want what I put in front of them. Even if it is just a choice between flavors it does make a difference. So this mornings breakfast on-the-go choice was regular or blueberry Lil Griddles mini pancakes and the choice was regular with syrup.

Once they took their dear sweet time eating breakfast it was time to get dressed. Wyatt sat on the living room floor first – I guess he felt like wasting five minutes when we were already running late. I had to pick him up and carry him to his bedroom, stand him up and show him where his clothes for the day were. Then we argued about what he was going to wear. He wanted to wear the blue shirt he slept in with Thomas the Train on it. I wanted him to wear a clean orange Thomas the Train shirt and I won! While the boys put their clothes on I hurried and brushed my teeth and put a brush through my hair so I could look a tiny bit presentable when I had to drop and sign Wyatt in at school. Then the morning went on with a crying breakdown from Mason who said his shirt was too tight, whining from Wyatt who didn’t want to brush is teeth and again from Mason who didn’t want to strap into his car seat when we piled in to take Wyatt to school. Now I’m back here writing this and so happy that the morning is over!

Do you have tricks to running a smooth morning routine or are all moms ready to pull their hair out by 9am?

Maybe Aunt Jemima Lil Griddles will help you get breakfast on the table faster – you can request a coupon from them HERE!

Through the Lens Life

The last few weeks have been wild and crazy – but isn’t every week wild and crazy when you have a business to run, blog to write and kids to raise or whatever your case may be? While feeding Delilah the other day I was thinking about how sad it is that I take so many pictures of my children with my phone and not with my high dollar camera which I saved and saved for. Instagram pictures rule my life and I guess I am okay with it because they catch raw and real moments.

Today remember to chase your dreams because they won’t chase you!

I would love to follow you on Instagram so leave your username in the comments or email it over!!
