Poofy Cheeks: Dollar Store Candle Halloween Decor

Dollar Store Candle Halloween Decor

A few weeks ago my husband and I went shopping for some new Halloween decorations. Halloween is his favorite holiday and he loves when the house is all decorated. Our first stop was the dollar store to see what we could find for cheap! We found zombie caution tape (we are walking dead fans so we HAD to get it), candles, silhouettes and a life-size paper skeleton. With my husband still out of work from a surgery it has been nice to spend time and shop together. Normally he would be working and I would end up doing all of the shopping and decorating myself!

My pick at the dollar store were tall white scentless candles and a vase ($1 each of course). I knew I had some black vinyl and Halloween washi tape at home to embellish and add a bit of Halloween to them.

For the tall white candle I used my silhouette to cut out Oct 31 and for the vase I wrapped strips of Halloween vinyl I had picked up at Target around it. I knew the contrast between the colors on the washi would make a nice effect if I lit a candle inside.

These were so simple to make and easy on the pocket book too! I saw something similar to the Oct. 31 candle at a store the other day and they wanted $15 for it! Do you have any tips or tricks for holiday decorating on a budget?

  1. Dollar Tree is my favorite! I love to get items to decorate with there. I am planning a Halloween birthday party for my son, so we are going all out this year with the decorations!

    1. How fun! My daughter's birthday is November 14th and one year I want to do her party a little early and make it into a Halloween party! :)
