On Saturday I shared my speckled egg painting technique and today I am showing you how I used the technique to make other Easter décor for my home.
Last month I ordered a box full of craft goodies from Consumer Crafts
(P.S. They have $1.97 shipping today for President’s Day!!!) and among the items were the infamous paper mache letters. I already had Easter on the brain so I made sure to order H-O-P.To make your own speckled egg letters you will need the following supplies:
- Paper mache letters
- Acrylic paints (in the colors of your choice)
- Paintbrush
- Old toothbrush
- Popsicle Stick
- Wooden Medallion
- Chalkboard Paint
- (Originally I planned on adding moss which is why it is in the picture, but then I changed my mind)
Using the acrylic paint give your letters a few coats of paint. The paper mache really soaks in the paint so my letters took about four coats, but the good thing about acrylic is that it dries fast. I just kept painting in a rotation H-O-P-H-O-P.
Once the letters had a good layer of paint I did the speckling technique on them which you can find HERE.
As you can see in the picture above the letters bubble up a little when you paint them but after they are completely dry that will usually go away.
To finish off my letters I used a hot glue gun to glue the letters together. I painted a wooden medallion with chalkboard paint, wrote ‘hippity’ on it and tied it on with matching pastel twine. Isn’t this super cute?
Enjoy,
