Life Randoms

I am not very motivated today. I worked on a guest post earlier this morning, and can’t bring myself to work on another tutorial post for my own blog now. Bear with me as I take you into a bit of real life randomness instead (paired with pictures from an antique show last winter – wish I were there now!).

I haven’t felt like myself the past few days and I just can’t place why. Maybe it is the pregnancy hormones or the on and off rain showers mixed with scorching heat. It could be that my new work schedule has me craving some adult interaction. My husband is on night shift which means he sleeps most of the day and wakes up with enough time to eat lunch and start getting ready for work again. This leaves me with the boys most of the day – although I wouldn’t want to spend my days with anyone else it can wear on you a bit. Sometimes there is screaming, yelling, fighting, whining and it just gets old. I can’t just go in my bedroom and shut the door to read a book or something.

I could feel a little out of sorts because I am stressing about Wyatt having an outpatient surgery next week that involves anesthesia or that he starts Pre-K this month. I have spent the past week at doctor appointments, filling out paperwork, and making phone calls to everyone and their momma.

I’ve been trying to distract myself by creating and listing new things in my shop, but even that isn’t as fun as usual.

Maybe a little Pinterest with a large glass of iced peach Snapple therapy is in order?! Those two things seem to make me happy – I’ll add it to my list of things to do today right after ‘fold laundry' which is ALMOST done. If you follow me on Facebook then you know that I hate folding laundry and I have had a few clean piles of clothes in my bedroom for almost three weeks a while.

Whatever the case is, I could go for a large chocolate something or other and a good chick flick. Any suggestions? (on a chocolate-something-or-other recipe or a movie?)

Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap Bites

I have been trying to think of ways to spice up lunches around here! With my husband working night shift right now, he wakes up just in time to eat lunch and neither of us are big fans of sandwiches. We have spent quite a bit of money eating out, and many times we eat fast food. Since his diverticulitis diagnosis, we have decided to make an effort to eat better. My husband really likes wraps, so I brainstormed up a Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap that we can eat here for lunch or can easily be backed for his midnight snack. I cut them up into bite sized pieces and the kids loved them too. (They are not good with wraps, everything just falls out the bottom!)

Ingredients:

  • Wrap (I used a garlic pesto flavor, but you could use whatever you want)
  • Ranch dressing powder packet
  • 8 oz. cream cheese
  • Spoonful of sour cream
  • Bacon – cooked
  • Chicken (I used deli sliced chicken)
  • Romaine Lettuce
  • Tomato (optional, I didn’t use one because I don’t like raw tomatoes)

Directions:

  1. Mix ranch packet, cream cheese, and sour cream together in a bowl.
  2. Spread the ranch and cream cheese mixture all over the wrap.
  3. Layer bacon, chicken, and romaine on one half of the wrap and roll er’ up.
  4. If you want to make them into bite sized pieces roll tightly and then slice.

These would make the perfect school lunch! I don’t know about you, but my mom used to pack me a sandwich EVERY-SINGLE-DAY and by the end of the school year I would sneak it past the lunch ladies and into the trash EVERY-SINGLE-DAY! I vowed to mix it up for my kids, so I got one year to practice and brainstorm sandwich alternatives.

ABC Boy Bedroom Reveal

Here is the final reveal of the boys’ room. I wish I had BEFORE before pictures because this room was one of the worst when we moved in. The walls were white with scuffs and marks everywhere. There were over a dozen holes from where the previous people had hung things on the wall, and the baseboards were disgusting!

The before pictures below were after we cleaned, painted, and unpacked. This room isn’t huge, but with another baby on the way they will be sharing a room for quite some time. I placed their beds on either wall leaving enough room for another twin bed when Mason graduates out of the toddler bed. The thing that makes me MOST excited about this room is that they boys have actually been sleeping in their room (which I contribute to their dream lights cozy bedroom).

Last of all I kept things organized by utilizing space in the boys’ closet beneath their clothes. Everything is from Target except for the hanging rocket which was from Ikea.
