Let’s Do Lunch – Real Life Link Party

Sometimes when bad things happen we ask – Why me?
At least I do - I don't feel like I have any bad karma.
I always do onto others the way I would want done onto me.
I wonder what God is trying to teach or show me.
Recently I have realized a few things that happened in past months were meant to make me stronger.
Had I not dealt with hard situations in the past, I would not be ready to deal with the present.

Today I feel strong and confident.
I feel rested and thankful.
The things that have happened in the past few months have given me strength.
Strength to try new things, be daring, be brave, and a strength to love unconditionally.

Writing this post today feels liberating.
I'm ending a chapter and moving onto the next.
I'm closing one door and opening another.
The hard times are done... for now.
I found out I am getting my hours back at work - plus more.
This might mean my blogging will slow down a bit, but I must do what is needed.
Catching up on bills will take SO much stress off.
To me - falling behind on the bills and balancing the money is the biggest stress.
Having to plan the exact right day to pay everything, calling to make arrangements, being told no.
It makes me want to cry, but it made me stronger.
To leave that part behind makes me beyond happy.

Mike and I have also decided that we are going to try again for baby #3.
Dealing with the loss of a baby is something I can't explain.
They say it is different for everyone.
I think I’m doing well - but it can still hurt at times.
I went with Mike to a shooting competition on Sunday and somebody told me 'congratulations'.
It stung – it took all I had to hold back the tears.
When I think I am fine something happens and the feelings all come back in an instant.
I am getting stronger though.

Today I am walking tall and strong.
I know what I am capable of.
I know that I can do anything I set my mind to.
The gears are turning and though I'm returning to work on a more frequent basis -
I'm plotting a way to do what I love.
I know that I want to design and craft because that is what makes me happy.
That is the work that doesn't feel like work to me.

Please only link up your true writing from the heart. Posts of everyday happenings, love, loss, weight loss, you know – LIFE stuff. (Please do NOT link up crafts, tutorials, or tips because there are plenty of link parties already made for those sorts of things.) I also ask that you kindly link back to Poofy Cheeks in your blog post or add it to your 'link party' page!

Washi Tape Clothespin Tutorial

Washi tape is my new obsession. The colors, the patterns, the possibilities! Today I’m sharing a washi tape clothespin tutorial and tomorrow I will show you what I made using them!

To make these you will need:

The reason I love these so much is that they are SUPER simple. I have seen clothespins with glitter, clothespins decoupaged with paper – but this takes the cake! Just stick, trim, and go! I did learn a few pointers while making these though! See that metal spring that holds the clothespin together? Make sure you are lining the tape up to the side where the metal part is to make it easier to trim the tape.

Since I am using mine for a Valentine craft – I used a sharpie to make cupid’s arrow across the top. Come back tomorrow to see what I made! (HINT: there are 14)

My First Antique Extravaganza!

Last Saturday I left the boys with my parents and spent the day with my mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and niece. We were on a mission to get to Renninger’s Antique Extravaganzas in Mt. Dora, Florida. Making my way to the extravaganza is on my life list – crossed that one off!

On the way to my in-laws house I had to pull over and take a picture of this magnificent sunrise. I don’t know that I have seen one more beautiful (though I also don’t see many sunrises as I like to sleep in later than the sun!!)

We made it to the extravaganza around 8:30am and shopped out little butts off until after 4. We couldn’t have asked for better weather. I was comfortable in jeans and a tank, and even got a bit of a sunburn on this never.been.so.pale body of mine.

My sister-in-law and I loaded up on buttons! I have some great ideas on how I am going to use them! I also purchased a few Atlas jars for my husband’s collection, a wooden soda crate, a two-man saw, and some other items which I am in LOVE with. I can’t wait to go again!

Our day didn’t stop here though – on our way home we stopped by an orange grove. It was my first time going to a grove and we got to pick our own oranges and fill up our buckets. Now I have so many oranges I don’t know what to do with myself!

It was a great day! I had so much fun and when I got home I was totally exhausted! I woke up the next morning sore as could be from all of the walking we did!! From sunrise to sunset I soaked in every ounce of that day.

Crafty Space – The Crafty Nest

Craft Studio 1

Hey guys! I'm Vanessa from The Crafty Nest, where I blog about my love for glue guns and glitter. I suffer from craft ADHD, regularly working on at least 10 projects at the same time. My craft room tends to look like a tornado blew through it. I live in the Arizona desert with my husband (aka Mr. Crafty Nest), our son Logan and our 2 cats. I'd love for you to stop by my blog! A huge thanks to Kelsey for having me over at her lovely blog.

Just so you know, my craft room is rarely if ever this clean. I'm attempting to be more organized in 2012, so we'll see how long that lasts. Before we moved into our home, my husband and I lived in a little apartment and our dining room table became my crafting space. After not being able to eat at a table for a couple years, we were excited to finally have a designated space for my glitter and glue guns. We turned one of our spare bedrooms into my craft room, well half my craft room and half my husband's office.

I fell in love with Pottery Barn's white desks and matching furniture, but not so much the price tag. I found similiar furniture at Ikea at a fraction of the cost and you can barely tell the difference. Aside from the furniture, I just love how personal and inviting the room feels to me. I placed one of my favorite quotes above the closet doors in the room, a nice reminder to make every moment count.

In an attempt to keep organized, I store my little craft supplies (beads, straight pins, etc.) in tiny little jars (found at Ikea). I store my larger items in baskets that line my bookshelf. Thanks to pinterest, I now store my ribbon on a pant hanger in my closet. I recently put rolling drawers in the closet and filled them with my fabric/felt stash.

Thanks for taking a peek inside of my craft room!
