What I Wore & Ate –Florida Thanksgiving Style

It was a warm 75 degrees for Thanksgiving here in the ole’ Sunshine State.

Yep – you better believe I was wearing a tank top and was totally comfortable. Sorry to all my cold weather friends! I truly wish I could come visit you!!

Here I am with my sister – she just turned 20 and is all about style and makeup as you can see HERE. She is super brave too – I am too big of a wimp to try red lipstick! Excuse the closed eye look as we were facing right into the sun!

Here is what I was wearing -

  • Tank Top – Express from TJ Max – $12
  • Jeans – TJ Max – $19.99
  • Necklace – Poofy Cheeks – $6
  • Watch – Fossil

Here is what we ate on Thanksgiving! Some of my momma’s yummy food! Picture of my dads plate – I don’t think he could have fit anymore food!

Just to show another picture of my sister rocking the red lipstick – Scarf is from Aldo.

Playing with Reindeer Names

Now that Thanksgiving is over I can officially feel okay about decorating and posting Christmas themed crafts! It just didn’t seem right to subject anyone to too many of my Christmas crafts in early November!

I’m so excited about Christmas this year. Both of the boys are old enough to ask for things they want, get super excited when they see Santa, and they are filled with Christmas cheer! However they are still not old enough to understand or care when I threaten them with ‘Santa is watching!’ LOL

Reindeer Name Canvas Decor

I made a similar set of canvases for Halloween and they were so super easy that I have had this canvas planned since!

To make your own you will need:

  • A canvas
  • Vinyl Letters
  • Spray paint

Apply the vinyl letters to the canvas and then spray paint over the top. When the spray paint has dried remove the letters for a fun piece of holiday art!!

Leftover Turkey Recipes–Pinterest Style

My mom is hosting Thanksgiving this year (I can’t wait for Turkey time!!)– but if I know her she will send some leftover Turkey home with us. If not – I have a turkey in the freezer!

Since leftover turkey sometimes sits in our fridge and goes untouched (because we are kind of leftover snobs around here) – I decided to search for ways to eat the turkey goodness during the days following Thanksgiving. What a better place to find ideas than Pinterest?

Selling on Very Jane–Woot Woot

Have you heard of the wonderful site Very Jane? For those who haven’t I explain it as a Groupon for handmade/craft items. Who doesn’t love a site who supports handmade and a good deal? Well guess what!?!

I’m selling there today!!

I hope you will go check it out and show me some love. For those of you who already have – I am so grateful.

I’m selling these ‘to’ and ‘from’ tags.

I might be MIA the next few days – don’t worry I will just be up to my ears in Kraft paper, twine, and my fingers will have ink smudged all over. No biggie!

Falling Leaf Wreath

Here in Florida there are not many falling leaves. That means I had to recreate the fall I dearly miss. The fall where the trees all around turn orange and yellow – a fall I took for granted. I miss those Illinois falls!!

Tulle Fall Leaf Wreath

To make it I used:
  • a metal wreath form
  • fake leaves
  • orange thread and needle
  • Orange tulle

It is so simple! Just knot the tulle around the wreath form and then use thread and needle to attach the fake leaves. Wah-lah you got a falling leaf wreath!

I have to interrupt the regular broadcast to share my big – exciting – over the moon – pinch me - am I dreaming news! I won something. Not just any old thing. A TICKET TO SNAP!!

Let me start out by saying that I don’t recall winning a thing in my life. I’ve never been the one to win a giveaway, raffle, trip, toothbrush, or anything. Yesterday I participated in SNAP’s first SNAPchat on Twitter. They were giving away one ticket to SNAP – and who won? I did!! I’m still doing the funky monkey happy dance. A few days ago I had mentioned to the hubs that I was considering asking for a ticket as a Christmas gift but now I don’t have to!!

I must say I’m a little (okay a lot) nervous to meet some of the bloggers I have followed for years and months. A few of these ladies include…

Jen from Tatertots and Jello!

Kami from No Biggie

Lara from Less Cake {More Frosting}

Then there are loads of other bloggers I just can’t wait to meet… too many to name here!

Don’t you fret – they will be hosting more SNAPchats on Twitter to give you a chance to win too. The next one is on Thursday, December 1st at 10:30 am MST chatting about ways to avoid holiday stress!! Be there or be square!!

I leave you with this….a picture of two inspiring signs I saw at World Market the other day. They really spoke to me.

Christmas Kraft Mobile–Use a Tomato Cage

I’m a sucker for Pottery Barn. I wish I could live in a Pottery Barn catalog. I would sure be in dreamland and so would my boys! I can’t afford most items from Pottery Barn though – bottom line. Until I can, I reinvent my own version (and maybe I like them even better too!)

So the mobile I am sharing today was inspired by one I saw on Pottery Barn’s website! Pottery Barn mobile is below. Super lovely!

Here is how I made mine-

Gather your supplies-

  • Tomato Cage
  • Wire Snips
  • Jute
  • Scallop Punch
  • Kraft Paper
  • Bakers Twine
  • Glue gun

First I cut the top circle from a tomato cage and used it as the base of my mobile. Then I used jute to tie across the circle form. After that I cut three different sizes of bakers twine. I used hot glue to sandwich bakers twine between two kraft scallops. Then when I was done with that I tied the bakers twine to the jute. The longest pieces in the middle and shortest pieces on the outside.
