Weekend Wrap Up–Beach Fun!

This weekend was filled with fun in the sun for me and my boys. It truly felt like summer. I even got a bit of a sunburn on my white back. I’m talking hasn’t seen sunlight in years, blind you in the dark pale white! Sad to say my husband had to work all weekend, so he didn’t get to join in a lot of the fun. Luckily we were able to finish the weekend off with date night though.

Friday I started knocking out Laundry Mountain and we played with our new bubble machine. (Thank you Candice!!)

Saturday we headed to Flagler Beach and met with my dad and sister. It was a beautiful day!

The boys kept filling buckets and then standing in them…

or dipping their heads in them…

Then my dad buried Mason (because Wyatt didn’t want to get sandy-somebody tell him we are at the beach!!!).

Mason put on my sunglasses as protection against sand and they got to burying.

He was too funny. He just laid still while they covered him up.

When we left the beach the boys, my sister, and I stopped by the local snow cone shop and picked up these babies. The perfect end to a sunny day at the beach! The boys were left with blue raspberry lips to match.

Today I finished the rest of Laundry Mountain and then we headed back to the beach!

Once again we ended the day with snow cones!

When Mike got home from work we got dressed, dropped the boys of with their grandparents and had a mommy-daddy date night at Red Lobster. We both needed a little break! I took the opportunity to get a good picture of the two of us….

and one of myself since it seems that I am always BEHIND the camera! I had to find a picture of myself a few weeks ago and I thought that it would be no problem. Well I went through five files of pictures and came up with 3 pictures that had me in it! I found out quickly that I am always the one taking the pictures and never IN them!

My weekend ended way better than it started! How about yours?

P.S. I’ve been doing a lot of planning for Halloween posts (already!!). I am going to do 31 Days of Halloween again – 100 times better than last year!

Not All Rainbows and Unicorns…

By reading my blog it would seem as if my days are often filled with Rainbows and Unicorns. The truth my friends is that I have many days where I stress or wonder ‘why me?’. I haven’t posted much in the last week because I have had that ‘why me?’ feeling. I’ve been down in the dumps. I have not felt the inspiration to write on my blog – and for the most part I am a very positive person. I feel embarrassed to say that I’m not happy right now.

I’m stressed out about my college classes and money. I was recently informed that I only have enough financial aid to cover my classes for next semester, but not the semester and a half left after that. This means that I have to pay out of pocket or find a personal loan. I ruined my credit at 18 – so this is going to be fun- NOT!

This goes hand in hand with the money part. Until I get my degree, I am going to be stuck in a job making a smaller amount of money than I would once I graduate. All-in-all this whole school/money thing is holding me and my family back.

I just need to pull it together and think of other options! In the long run money doesn’t matter anyways. As my husband often tells me we are rich with love for each other and our boys - and we should be thankful for everything we have!

Though sometimes I’ll admit it feels better to be upset, better to feel sorry for yourself, and better to cry it out. I’m the type of person who tries to hide my ‘negative’ emotions. I put everything to the back until I just can not take it anymore and I burst. I burst with emotion and I cry – cry more – and then when I think I get it under control I could instantly cry at any moment. I cry when I’m mad or when I’m sad. This isn’t the greatest quality because if I’m mad and then I cry people just see me as weak. Anyways enough about my blubbering tears. I really have not cried this week – I have just felt like crying.

Throughout the past few days I’ve had to thank pinterest for these....

And yes – this too shall pass. My boys and I are headed to the beach today so this mommy can soak away her worries. Maybe we will go to the beach again tomorrow too because after all….

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!

Tutorial Thursday {Eye Shadow}

`My sister, Lindsay, is four years younger than me. I remember when I was like her and obsessed with makeup. Those were the days before children when I actually had time to primp and fuss with how I looked. Nowadays I usually throw my hair in a bun and put on eyeliner. No time for much else!

Anyways – I invited Lindsay to show us mommas (and anyone else who wants to know!) how to apply makeup once again! I think after time goes by we forget what works and doesn’t! We forget which colors blend – and which colors look best! Lindsay is going to be sharing a photo post with us each week!

A little about Lindsay – she is my sister! She is kind and patient. She is going to school to be a nurse (god bless her because I could never do it!). She is a social butterfly. She works hard and parties hard too! Lindsay is fun and free spirited. She is blonde and beautiful. She is after all – My Sister!

Follow her HERE on Tumblr! Fair warning that things can get PG-13 over there, but she is always posting fashion stuff and her newest makeup!

First she starts out by using Blackground Paint Pot by Mac. Does black scare you? It scares me! I’m always afraid I’ll end up looking like I got punched in the eye!

Like I said – Lindsay is blonde. Without makeup you can not see her eyebrows. Back up! Stop the tape! Rewind! Time to put on the eyebrows!

For her eyebrows she uses her Mac eyebrow pencil.

Can you see her eyebrows now?

How about now? Okay- now that the eyebrows are here let us continue.

After applying the black paint pot she uses a brown/teal color called Club by Mac . She applies it in the crease and gently pulls it down onto the black shadow with her brush.

After that she uses Steamy by Mac which is a blue/teal color over the top of the brown.

Club is the third one to the right on the bottom row.

Then she applies a white color called Crystal Avalanche by Mac. Crystal Avalanche is the second one to the right on the top row.

After that she applies eyeliner to the bottom lid, liquid eyeliner to the top lid, and mascara.

Then my friends she is done! Lovely eyes for a night out on the town or a mommy/daddy date night!

Here goes nothing! My turn! Like I said – bun and eyeliner.
