You may remember a few months ago.
I did a post titled 'Decorating with Windows' HERE
There were so many great ideas for vintage windows.
This post was inspired by two windows I scored off of Craigslist.
Well one window rehab turned out amazing
the other is not so amazing!
The amazing window is hanging in our living room. I’m waiting on one more 5x7 photo to put in the bottom right hand corner and it will be complete! What is in the middle pain you ask? Well I mod podged fabric! I’m so happy with it! Who woulda’ thought?
Here is what I did…gathered my supplies.
- Window
- Sand paper
- Mod Podge
- Fabric
- Photos
- Scotch Tape
- Paint brush
I roughed up the edges of the window with sand paper to make it look more worn. Then I flipped it over so the right side was down and I used scotch tape to secure the photos on the side window panes.
Then I squirted mod podge onto the center pane and spread it around with a paintbrush. Put the fabric down on top of that right side down and smoothed it out so there were no bubbles. I added another of layer of mod podge to the back of the window and let it dry.
The fabric I used is the same fabric I used to recover my craigslist chairs – HERE. I love that it ties things together and the window displays our family photos!
Come back tomorrow to see my adventures with window #2 – the one I would love to hang in my bedroom. I’m actually going on a mission right now to try trial number 3 with this darn window!! Here are a few photos of what I have been dealing with… one more fail and this window is going to end up broken!
Enjoy – while I’m out in this Florida heat fighting with a window!
