Halloween is getting so close. I got Wyatt his Thomas the Train costume, and I think Mason is going to be a skeleton…
Today I am going to show you how to create an easy candy corn craft. I saw the idea on another blog, and it came from Better Homes and Gardens. The one that they have is super cute and very inexpensive, but my version is even less expensive!!
What you need:
- black spray paint
- white, yellow, and orange acrylic paint
- paint brush
- black rick-rack
- 2 cardboard cones
- 2 terracotta pots
- hot glue gun
I had some black Krylon spray paint and acrylic paint already. I bought two different sized terracotta pots, black rick rack and two cardboard cone shapes from Michael's (the cones are in the Christmas craft isle). All together it cost me $5 for the supplies. TIP: When buying the pots, make sure the base of the cone fits in them!
I took the terra cotta pots and spray painted them with black spray paint. Easy enough! Then I used white, yellow, and orange acrylic paint on the cones to resemble a candy corn. After that dried- I used Mr. Hot Glue Gun (my craft friend) and glued the rick rack over where the paint colors met. This is good because it adds a pop and it hides any imperfections where the two colors meet.
The final step is to put some hot glue around the bottom of the cone and then carefully put it into the pot so that the cone is standing up straight.
Now they are sitting pretty with all my other Halloween decor! I just love adding decorations to my collection. The best part is when you pull everything out the following year - it is like Christmas because you always forget what you have!
Enjoy! Check back tomorrow for my new Theme of the Week - Halloween! PARTY!
